*Coronavirus (Covid-19) - Update*

Covid

In light of current guidance from the NHS and in order to reduce the number of patients visiting the surgery we have taken the difficult decision to close our doors to all visitors.  Our GPs are now conducting assessments over the telephone and if necessary by video link.  When you call and speak to one of our receptionists you will be asked a number of questions so that your call can be directed appropriately.

If you have symptoms associated with Coronavirus including a new continuous cough and a high temperature you are advised to stay at home for seven days.  If your symptoms are serious or get worse NHS111 has an online Coronavirus service that can advise you what to do.  Only call 111 direct if you cannot go online or are advised to do so once you have filled in their online questionnaire.  For the latest Covid-19 advice go to the NHS Coronavirus (Covid 19) Overview

These are clearly difficult times, but we are planning on remaining open and continuing to provide a service to all our patients.  If you have any concerns about what you should do with regards to your health, please do not hesitate to call the practice so that we can assist you.

For Parents/Carers:

If your child is unwell and you need advice from the practice then please contact us as you usually would.  Please do not delay contacting your practice and seeking advice if you and your child need it. During the COVID19 pandemic, don’t come to the practice contact us first. Please see this Advice for parents during coronavirus poster.

Patient Access Update

Unfortunately booking appointments via Patient Access will be temporarily disabled at this time so that we can screen patients wanting a GP appointment more appropriately during the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak. We appologise for any inconvenience caused. You can however still use Patient Access to request repeat medication.

*NEW* Canbury Medical Centre would like to invite you to join DoctorLink.

We have been looking at how we can improve access to Practice services; DoctorLink is our new online service where you can access advice and appointments on line.

Registration is simple. See our Doctor Link page to register.

For all urgent appointments, we ask that you undertake a symptom assessment through DoctorLink.

The symptom checker will ask you a number of questions to help to identify your problem.

The outcome of your assessment will direct you to the right treatment, whether emergency care, your GP, nurse or self care.

If your outcome indicates that an appointment is required, you simply click on the request appointment link.

Once the request has been submitted, you will then be contacted by the Practice Team, to arrange an appointment within the identified timeframe (as outlined in the outcome of your symptom checker).

The information you provide will be shared with our clinical team (where appropriate) and will assist in providing robust information of your problem to the required clinical team member

Measles

Measles is in the news again with several serious outbreaks in England and Wales and the number of children catching it is rising. Measles can be a very serious disease leading to ear and chest infections, fits, diarrhoea and damage to the brain. Measles can kill! Your child is at risk if they haven't been immunised with the MMR vaccine. Two doses of the vaccine are needed to get the best protection. If your child is due to have had the two doses but not yet had them, no matter what age they are you should contact your GP surgery to get them vaccinated as soon as possible.
